I knew by 11 a.m. that my goals were really coming along because I was still lying in bed in my pj's milling around on my laptop. However! it wasn't a completely fruitless morning because I did finish up a friend's business card, choose the music for sacrament meeting, and polish off a box of my favorite Triscuits. Which just so happen to be the triangle-shaped "Thin Crisps" kind. Flavor? Quattro Formaggio. Fancy, huh? I have no idea what it means, however I would assume it has something to do with "tastebud delight."
I digress.
As I headed up the freeway for some errands, the snow became heavy enough and the roads became slushy enough to dissuade me from my mission to visit shops up north. I turned around at Thanksgiving Point. I've always been a first class wimp when it comes to driving in snow. I was forced to content myself with my normal stores.
Around 3 I returned home earlier than planned, because I was famished. Ignore the fact that I had eaten lunch at noon—I was near death, I swear it. So I made myself a little snack, which consisted of pasta and left over cream cheese chicken from our dinner the other night. Which, on the surface, may seem more like a meal but I assure you it was just a snack. Because who in their right mind would eat a full meal at 3 o'clock?
And then after all that I was just beat.
I've always been a firm believer in those 10-minute power naps. So an hour later I woke up, and boy howdy was I ready to get things done.
But, of course—before starting any big task—I had to make myself a new playlist in iTunes. But come on. I can't be the only one out there with this routine. Sandy would back me up. Cleaning playlists are particularly tricky. They must be created with special care and thought, because they have to be particularly inspiring. Highlights included: Mama Cass' "Make Your Own Kind of Music" (inspired by our recent LOST marathon...so we'll be ready for season 6!), Tegan and Sara goodies, selections from Andrew Bird, Three Dog Night (for good measure), Boston's "More Than a Feeling," and the list goes on. Mika's "Love Today" proved to be especially helpful while mopping my 4x4 kitchen floor. And yes, I have contemplated whether I should be embarrassed to divulge such musical inclinations toward Mika—but I figure if you saw my sparkling linoleum you'd probably understand.
The moral of the story (and I bet you had no idea you'd be getting a moral. My treat. No need to thank me.) is that I got it all done.
But it was touch and go for awhile.
*takes a bow*
Oh, except for the world peace thing. But you can't fault me for trying.

Just the fact that you got in a post like this is enough to impress me.
Woo-hoo! You have so many talents!
Four cheese.
I laughed out loud when I read the 11 am and still in bed. That sounds like something I would do and I'm not even pregnant! Ha! Your blogs are such a treat. By the way, I think you and Tom should start watching marathon Amazing Race. It's so good.
Wahoo for getting lots of stuff done! I'm impressed. My Saturday was much less productive... Next time you want to go shopping and Tom's out working (if you're feeling lonely) you should give me a call. We live close, and I'm pretty good at driving in the snow...most of the time. :)
First I must say that I am truly proud of your accomplishments. It sounds like you got in one of those moods I so often find myself in. Like the night we tried to watch a movie, bake brownies, visit the fire station, hang out in the jacuzzi and paint our nails in 3 hours. Your little story is proof that there's just no such thing as aiming too high. When Season decides to make things happen, its so comforting to know that she can still make it happen.
You crack me up!
I am SO happy that I'm not the only one that makes playlists for every activity! I had to laugh because right before I read this post I made a playlist to listen to while I did the dishes! It makes life so much more enjoyable when you have a personalized soundtrack!
I am so impressed with your accomplishments! If only more of us could have the same "Season-work-ethic." That's right, there is officially a name (in my book) for tasks done in such fashion!
