Don't ya wanna just put this little guy in your pocket and take him home?
Tom and his Madre are working on a project. A book. About a gnome. She's writing and Tom's illustrating. Throughout the last few weeks they've been working to hone in on a look for her charming, yet mischievous leading character. And the lovable creature you see above is the first draft.
....the fuzzy beard look was totally my idea....
....I just had to throw that in.....
Well, technically he's the fourth draft. Because, as in any creation process, there were several other gnomes that didn't quite make the cut. However, I think they'd make great little side kicks to throw in every now and again throughout the plot. Every gnome needs cohorts.
Here they are—on parade.
I'm very much looking forward to the outcome. My mother-in-law's writing is superbly entertaining. And this undertaking may become a whole family affair. I've offered to help with the book layout, along with whatever publishing info I might have. Furthermore, Tom's brother just so happens to hold the unprecedented talent of putting page numbers on the bottom of a page—in the correct order, mind you.
For plot details, you'll have to patiently await them. I'm not one to ruin a good story.
So now, along with Thanksgiving, Christmas, a new year, birthdays and babies, we have a little gnome on paper to look forward to.

That's awesome! What a talented family.
The original Gnoggin is knitted, and you captured his beard perfectly. I'll bring him next week. Still working on the plotline. I'll bounce some stuff off of you. Do we need to worry about people heisting Gnoggin off of this blog or is that in some evil parallel world far far away? Might look into copyright laws on that sort of thing. It would be a crying shame to find him in the funnies some morning!! To say nothing of how incensed Gnoggin would be.
I love it -- can't wait for my autographed copy.
remember how you said you were developing certain aversions? i think that is happening to me. in particular i don't like our kitchen or dining room. i also dont like thinking about childbirth. i'm also a very unhappy person from wake-up to about 11 a.m. this is normal right?
btw cute gnome.
Seriously awesome. The whole ordeal. Just freakin awesome!!
I like him. Tom is really talented. I think they're all cute but the most recent draft is definitely my favorite of the bunch.
I love that little gnome! As far as publishing, have you heard of the book Writer's Inc.? Definitely a good place to check out publishers. You could probably even get the information you need just by spending an hour or so at a Barnes and Noble.
