A little mathematical equation for you.

What is the result of combining each of these elements:

• A 5'4" mid-twenties female
[Who, at the time, was]
• 3 days short of being 6 months pregnant (24 weeks)
[Added to]
• 0 years of cross country skiing experience
[and]
• Snow pants 3 sizes too small
[in]
• 15-21 degree weather
[exerting]
• approximately 160 heart beats per minute
[multiplied with]
• bladder pressure at a rate of 99%.
(due to the pants and weather.)

I know, it's a tough one. I actually think it's a sample question from next year's ACT. Give up?

I'm open to warm compliments, veneration, praise, flattery, toasts, applause, cheers, gushes, (etc.) for trying out such a venture. My one and only other experience on skis occurred about two years ago and was a disaster of monumental proportions. So when the cross country extravaganza was first suggested this past Christmas weekend while vacationing in Idaho, I had my doubts. As did my snow pants.

According to Tom, I harbor doubts towards every new activity when it's first suggested. Not important. (But really, he's right.) But I had fun! And with amazing tutors like Tom, his mother and stepdad, I was soon soaring through that snow at a sound-barrier-breaking 3 mph.

Oh, and here's a bonus question: How many times can you drop a camera in the snow and have it still function? We tried it out: 2 times. (Answers may vary, however.) But you'll notice a hazy blur along the right side of the photos. I just didn't want anyone to go on wondering.

And so I figured: What could be more fun than sharing such fun through a video compilation??? I'll even go ahead and point out my favorite parts. Please note, at the end of the video, the amazing progress that Tom's mom and I make in our individual predicaments. (Are you intrigued?) And if you watch 'til the end, you'll get to witness the huge hill that I tackle. (Yes, I'm giggling while I write this.)

In other news, we had a lovely Christmas. Our baby made out like a bandit with some of the darlingest clothes, socks, shoes and hats you'll ever see. And as for myself, I'm donning a lovely new watch, which I would gladly model via picture, except that something seems to be wrong with our camera.

Hey. Don't jump to conclusions.

1) Impressive
2) Your hair grows unbelievably fast
3) Exercise is good for the baby
4) At some point it would be nice if you started to look pregnant
5) The look on your face is classic
6) The snow pants are hot
7) The bladder issues are likely HERE.TO.STAY. (Wait till you get to baby #4 or #5 and you go to the dr. repeatedly thinking you are leaking fluid...only to find out it's just a weak bladder. IF THAT doesn't build your self-esteem, nothing will.
8) I think you are great and I miss you.

Amen sister above.
Love that cross country trail. I have the best memories of skiing there over the years.

You crack me up! I can't believe that you are already 6 months pregnant! That went by fast.....for me. It was hilarious never seeing Tom Thomas' mom getting up. She just slowly scoots! Glad that you had such an amazing Christmas!

In my own defense (and it's obviously clear that everyone else is having too dang much fun laughing AT me to Defend me), I'm a pretty good skiier until I fall! Too tall, too low a center of gravity. So there. Keep me upright and I'm poetry in motion.

Oh Season, you are a much better sport than I and it's totally understandable that you would have some doubts about this activitiy. I would and I'm not even pregnant!! Just watching that video made me cold. And yes...I did laugh.
