Last night I spent a good portion of the wee hours of the morning awake and occupied with deep thoughts.
For instance:
—Does Rexburg have an Albertsons?
—I could have sworn it did.
—If my memory serves me correctly, I distinctly remember a time when several room mates and I bought a delicious pie inside a Rexburg Albertsons—all with coins.
—AND, if I my memory serves me correctly again, our cashier was less than enthused when we dumped out our little cup of nickels, dimes, and pennies to pay up. We'd been scrimping all summer for this very occasion. Of course there weren't any quarters in the lot because we all clung to those dearly for laundry.
—But after mentally mapping almost every square foot of that town, I can't remember where the Albertsons is/was located.
—I mentally drove myself down Main Street. It wasn't there. But I did give a nostalgic wave to La Jolla; my stomping ground for two years. And then I said hello to the Taco Bell that I frequented enough to be a part of their Rewards program. If only they'd instituted one.
—I drove past Craigos. Mmmm. How I miss that place. Especially the old one—the lovable, dumpy little pit with a parking lot that only seemed to fit 5 cars, yet miraculously was always brimming with people to the point that the fire code likely felt violated.
—Was it located over by the Wendy's? And the new movie theater that they put in?
—Perhaps we only bought it at the WalMart, and I've somehow believed all these years that it was Albertsons? Talk about throwing off my universe.
—Then I headed over by Smith Park, which happens to be the location of where a very thought-provoking conversation took place between Tom Thomas and I. (Considerably more thought-provoking than pondering Albertsons whereabouts at 4:00 in the morning.)
—I believe "turtle" was in the title of the pie. A wise choice on our parts. Although I'm sure V-ness would have preferred rhubarb.
—We wouldn't have driven all the way into Idaho Falls to buy it. Would we? That clearly seems absurd.
—I continued my virtual search, closer to campus. Tug went the heart strings as I made my way past the dear, dear Scroll office. I continued on to the road passing Breckenridge and the stadium.
—Indeed my favorite memory on that road was the time I encountered "I totally concur" girl belting (and I mean belting) "What the World Needs Now" while riding her bike to school. Her hair clips glistening in the sun. And of course, Sandy is the only one who will truly appreciate this.
—The pie occasion was a long time ago. Maybe we only went to Broulims?
—No way. I'd remember that.
—It definitely wasn't over by the dorms, where Amber and I used to take our long walks and discuss the—Yankees, was it?
—Maybe I made the whole incident up? Yet that can't be because I remember we refused to share our pie with Chris, Matt and probably several other hungry then pre-missionary whippersnappers.
—So where the blazes is the Rexburg Albertsons?
Quite obviously, it was a mind-boggling night.
I finally fell back to sleep about an hour before my alarm was supposed to sound.

Haha! Seaz, that's quite a walk down memory lane! I almost wish you would have called me. I know exactly where the Albertson's in Rexburg is. I made it a point to shop there more than Broulims my whole school career, for the sole reason that we had them in Vegas too and it reminded me of home. Sounds lame now.
I TOTALLY CONCUR with your thoughts that I would love that part! You know who else might really like this? Lacey! After all, "I totally concur" girl was pretty fond of Lacey in our interpersonal comm class. She especially enjoyed Lacey's hair, right Lace!? HAHHAHA!
So where is it?? I still can't figure it out. I must be getting old.
Dear Season, to put you out of your misery, Albertson's is located on 2nd East. It is right next to Walmart. You must have just been selective in your thinking and skipped right on over the dear little store. And yes, it still does exist, and yes, it is across the street from the new movie theatre and Wendy's!
Oh, I frequent the Rexburg Albertson's often . . . and for the same reason Sandy mentioned above: it reminds me of Vegas. -Sigh-
And Seaz, I'm so glad you posted a picture of yourself! You may not feel like it, but you look great!
And P.S. the last comment was from me, Melissa Reid. And I love your blog!
Oh, by the way: You head north down 2nd East, and the Albertson's is in the same parking lot as the Wal-Mart with the Payless Shoes, Sally's Beauty Supply, and Downeast Outfitters wedged in between. Does that help?
You are so funny! You look sooooooo cute! My skin was finally starting to clear up and now it's a total mess again. I loved your "highly photo shopped face". We can't wait for your cute baby girl to get here!!
Oh Melissa and Brittany, you are total lifesavers. Everything is as it should be again.
It is next door to Wal-mart. PS Rexburg's Wal-mart is AWFUL!!! I HATE shopping there! And I know exactly how it feels to not remember anything!
Hey, we have the SAME tv remote!!
You should have called me. I couldn't have helped with your Albertson's dilema - -but I was awake all night and we could have chatted.
BTW -- Kenzie just said, "Is that your sister, Susan, in that picture?"
I said, "You mean, Season?"
She said, "Yes, I wish we lived with that girl. She is so nice."
That was highly entertaining! And 35 weeks! You are getting so close and I am becoming increasingly jealous that you are that much closer than me. :)
You're funny. Have a fun shower tomorrow. I wish I was there.
I'm going to write to Obama and suggest he put you on health care reform!!! All that great analysis time going to waste when you could be having a GLOBAL affect on things!!!!!
Oh, about Albertson's. I think it was over by the laundromat where Tom Thomas and I used to go every week. Yes, it was TEN long years before I ever got a washing machine, but am I bitter????? Does it show???? Hmmmm...I remember hefting all 20 pounds of 4 year old too darling for words Tom Thomas up on the washing machine so that we could talk face to face. Good times--especially when he wore his Superman cape and Superman Underoos. AND YES, we did sometimes go into Albertson's for a treat. Not sure what the street is, but we turned onto it from Sugar City and drove straight there. K-Mart???? Is there one of those there??? Now, I'M going to be trying to figure THAT out. Incidentally I DO remember that I knew "we weren't in Kansas" (Texas) anymore when I heard someone in the laundromat whistling "The Spirit of God Like a Fire Is Burning"...
You crack me up! I'm pretty sure that the pies were from Albertson's... We probably should have given the boys some of our pie, since pretty much all of the money in our "Help Us" cup was from them... but I'm so glad that we didn't share! It was so good... and definitely not rhubarb... And you're right... ou cashier definitely did NOT like us.... Good times.
Anyways, I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your baby shower, I was out of town. I still want to see you sometime though! We should get together sometime.
p.s. The yankees are having a good year. :)
yeah i remember that pie!! for some reason i thought we bought the pie at Broulims but since it was freshman year that is unlikely b/c we shopped at Walmart the most (ha i ttink). And speaking of Walmart, the albertsons is next to walmart. :)
Season you are too funny. :) Somehow I skipped over this post when I was reading everything, but the whole time I kept wanting to tell you where it was. We went there numerous times as well. I'm assuming the "Mad Hadder" is your mother in law? K-mart is on the opposite side of the street from Walmart on the other side of the bridge, closer to campus, over by McDonalds, Maurices and a dollar store (at least that's what was there when I was there last).
