In other words, I think I'll settle on absurdity.
I once read that it's kind of a faux paux to blog about blogging. Unless, of course, your blog is about blogging—in which case blogging about blogging is totally acceptable. (Yeah, I came up with that conclusion all on my own.)
Well shucks. They don't call me a rebel for nothing. (They don't really call me a rebel.)
Where is she going with this, you ask? I'll tell you. This weekend I spent many-an-hour at the Casual Blogger Conference. My work was kind enough to treat my ticket. Clara tagged along, and despite her total disinterest in blogging (she either slept or cried through the presentations), she was quite popular. In fact, one lady even whispered to me in passing: "She makes my ovaries ache." Now sure, this is more information than I ever could have bargained for, but if you think about it, that's really quite the compliment. I mean, how many of us can boast that we've actually caused someone's ovaries pain? I know, right?
Anyway. One thing mentioned that piqued my interest was the fact that anyone who wants to be an effective blogger needs to know the direction they want to take their blog. Needs to have a focus. A theme, even. Naturally, it works well to focus on something that you're good at, or that you know a lot about, or that you have a passion for. Then you take that particular something-or-other and use it to help your blog stand apart from all the others. This, friends, is the recipe for a successful blog.
And it got me thinking. Do I have a theme? I usually have a hard time with the word "theme" because it's somewhat synonymous with the word "cheesy," but in this case I think it works.
So after a mental list of all items that I'm either a: good at (a short list), b: know lots about (even shorter), or c: passionate about, prospects are quite dim. But I'm not one to be deterred. I don't have anything conclusive just yet, but here's the most notable options so far (in no particular order):
• My vast knowledge of Disney animated movies (I tend to slaughter everyone in Disney's Scene It)
• My strange adoration for the 80s era (the music and feathered hair of that decade give me the chills...and in a good way)
• My strict adherence to cuticle maintenance (it's pretty much a part of my political platform)
What do ya think?? I know, it's an overwhelming list. I thought of it early early this morning. Go ahead and let me know if any of those scream "Season's theme." I'd love your input, because I'm just sitting here themeless.

Oooooh. You must have shddered at my cuticles. That aside, I'm thinking you should focus on Disney animation from the 80's featuring manicurists.
When you figure out your theme...perhaps you can help me with mine? I'd say, "downright funny" is a good enough theme and therefore-- you have accomplished your theme.
I would be completely interested in a blog that focused on Disney animation haha and I love that you are amazing at Disney Scene It because that is my passion in life as well :)
that's right! you went! glad clara got to tag along and hurt womens' ovaries. how was cjane?
and i totally vote for a disney movie blog.
Seaz, whatever you decide, I'm behind you 100%. Love it all. I must get my cuticles from my mother too because the sight of mine might cause OTHER parts of your body to hurt!
I vote that you maintain the rebel trend you set and ... NOT HAVE A THEME. Daring I know, but thoughts?
Hmmm. I say go with Disney movies! And speaking of that, I like to think of myself as the Disney Scene It champ. We may have to have a battle to the death. :)
Yeah Autumn, I think I'm with you. I actually hinted to the theme I really would have, if I did have one, in my title.
Lyndsey-C Jane was quite delightful.
And Katie...it is so on.
