Our newbie: Narcolepsy edition

Getting Clara to remain conscious for longer than 30 seconds to eat is perhaps the most difficult task I've ever undertaken.

We've tried everything.
• Change diaper? Doesn't phase her.
• Undress and redress her? Child's play.
• Obnoxiously daub her face with a wet washcloth? Sure, it's annoying, but her resolve is stronger.
• Tickle her entire body? She dreamily sighs from boredom.
• Offer rousing renditions of "When the Saints Go Marching In"? Not a chance.
Shoot—yesterday I even shampooed her hair. Other than a very put-out (and very cute) subconscious frown, it was a no-go.

The girl is Fort Knox.

We all have our flaws, right?
Otherwise she'd be practically perfect in every way.

In other news—we finally ventured out for our first walk.
Look closely. There's a baby in there. Really.

First of all, baby Clara is precious! Second, and I am no expert in this whole parenting thing, but I think I prefer a sleeping child to a crying one... Hope everything is going well for you three!

Love it! And for whatever it's worth...that stroller situation is what Cambrie looked like at soccer this morning...except she had a lawn chair across the top of the stroller -- to keep the blanket that was also on top -- in place -- due to the 50-60 mile per hour winds. Glad to hear you got out.

So adorable! Yup they would rather sleep than eat. At least during the day!

Nursing and a sleeping baby can be such a pain. One time I remember leaving Lily undressed and rubbing an ice cube on her back - or something to that extent. It's amazing the extremes we'll go to to get them to nurse. Stick with it, I'm sure you're are doing great! It can be such a frustrating thing at first. Luckily, both my kids grew out of the sleeping while needing to nurse issue. She's soooo cute!
