California, part dos: Wild Animal Park

I like zoos. I think they're super fun. Turns out, Tom Thomas likes zoos too. One of our earliest dates was to the Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls, and we had a fantastically grand time. And I'll have you know that I used that date as a comparison to all other dates with other guys, on a scale of "close to the fun-ness of Tautphaus Park" to "not close to the fun-ness of Tautphaus Park."

But anyway, that's not really important to this post. But I put it in there just in case I become famous someday and they decide to make a trivia game about me.

So we were all for heading to the Wild Animal Park with the fam. Not to be confused with the Wild Animal Kingdom, which is in Florida, and has that neato tree in the middle with all the carved animals.

Two things I remember about the Wild Animal Park, from when my family went when I was like 10:
1. I thought it was cool to get in the trams and drive around the "safari" where all the animals basically roamed (semi) free.
2. I got pooped on while in the walk-in bird aviary.

I'm looking forward to when Clara gets older and can actually enjoy the zoo. Because as it stands, she didn't exactly love it at the Wild Animal Park.

That's just the most distressed double chin I've ever seen. What's worse, soon after this picture I banished her to her stroller so she could fall asleep. Which she did, but only after a pretty intense melt down. But she slept for a solid 2 1/2 hours and Tom Thomas and I wandered around seeing things like this:

At the Wild Animal Park, there are long slithering cats that will eat you if you don't stay on the trail.

Tom took 43 pictures of the gorillas. As it turns out, he's got a thing for strapping primates. I recall asking him what he was planning to do with that many pictures of gorillas. I don't recall what his response was though. I'll tell you what we're going to do with that many pictures. We're gonna post them on this here blog.

I love zoos too! That place looks fun, I will have to check it out someday. Also, that collage of gorillas is kind of sweet.

I think one of the gorillas is mooning me, and when I say mooning I mean this: ()()

When I'm a celebrity I hope they put me as the only non-characture person in the game Guess Who. Then we can both play each other's games.

I did not know that if you made a double chin it increased the intensity of your distress call. Good to know.

When we went to the Seattle zoo, all Andrew wanted to see were the gorillas, too. Funny guys.
