Snow bums

(She's like a little pink and brown marshmallow, adorned in snow clothes that will better fit her next year.)

We were off galumphing through the snow at Brian Head this past weekend, as is our President's Day weekend tradition.
FUN, I tell you. FUN. We did next to nothing except for sit around. Which, if you haven't heard, is FUN.

Snowmobiling adventures were unfortunately quite light this year, because on Saturday a monumental storm settled in and dumped (dumped!) snow all day long. Originally my brother was not to be detoured by a couple million pounds of snow falling from the sky, but after getting his snowmobile stuck after only about 5 minutes, the fresh snow was deemed too soft and fluffy for good riding. So we had no choice but to wait it out watching movies, watching (more like enduring) obnoxious Disney Channel TV shows, reading (I finished Three Cups of Tea—excellent, P.S.), and sloshing around from too much hot chocolate consumption. By mid afternoon our cars were buried. Mountain snow sure doesn't mess around. Come Monday—the day we were to leave—the weather was gorgeous and perfect for snowmobiling. Typical, mother nature. Typical.

It's a dangerous place, that Brian Head. The elevation is so very high and the oxygen is so very limited that you could end up ultimately losing your mind—as I did. First I lost our Kindle. This did not sit well with Tom Thomas because he had definite plans to curl up with it by the cozy fireplace. He tore our entire room apart looking for it one night but didn't think to check in his duffel bag—which is where I had put it. Apparently. I have no recollection of anything—so even if I wanted to argue that I don't think I'm really the one that placed the Kindle in his bag I wouldn't be able to—because I have no recollection of anything. Soon after I lost our car keys—a slightly more serious misplacement. I said over and over, "Are you sure you handed them to me?" To which he responded over and over "Positive." I have no recollection of that either. So the search continued until my sister-in-law overheard us and came to our rescue, since she had seen someone's keys on the table and moved them to a safer place.

Then I lost Clara.

Kidding!

I slept horrendously all weekend long. Even with my lavender sleeping lotion-potion that I use every night, thanks be to Tracy. Clara and I just don't mesh too well in the same bedroom. Plus, she had a couple of rough nights as well, which is a foreign concept for me because Clara usually sleeps like a rock. Usually. I thought I was handling all the over-tiredness (for myself) quite well until at one point Tom asked me if I would make a monkey sound and I flat-out refused, which shocked and depressed him all at the same time and it was concluded that I was grumpy. But let's back up. Why did he ask me to make a monkey sound? I can't remember. (Naturally). However, if you're at all acquainted with Tom, then such a request shouldn't really sound that odd to you. In any case, Tom brought it up even hours later—"I can't believe you wouldn't make a monkey sound," so it was obvious that my grumpiness had really cut him deep. The good news is that Clara and I both took rock star naps today so hopefully we'll be back on our schedule soon.

We arrived home to find cookies on our doorstep from an anonymous cookie maker. How's that for a way to end your vacation?

Anywhosits, more pictures coming right up.

Oh, just slyly throwing in a picture of my cute NEW niece Vivian, who was born on Sunday. Hooray for more family!

I've never seen a cuter pink and brown marshmallow. And I'm glad everything lost was eventually found. You need to record yourself making monkey sounds now. You've got me curious.

Clara looks ADORABLE!! Her two teeth are so stinkin' cute! How did she do with the teething? Lucy is struggling. I might need to call you and see if you have any tips I haven't tried. How do you like your kindle? I'm really loving mine. Definitely not good for quickly looking up scriptures at church, but other than that I think it's pretty cool. Just as I was reading that you like the lotion, I was applying the chapstick you gave me. Best stuff ever! I need more - lots more! Keep the pictures coming!

The pictures are darling...and you write the word FUN...but the description...well...it sounds a bit like something other than fun. Kidding...I'm just trying to make myself feel better for missing out YET AGAIN.

I agree...HOORAY for more family.
