I managed to steer clear of spoilers! (So that means you can read this, Tom Thomas.)

I've been in a different world since Thursday. A type of place where I neglect all of my normal responsibilities—cleaning, getting dressed, making the bed, eating, attending to hygiene, you know. I'm not sick. Feeling quite well, thank you.

I've just been reading The Hunger Games series, that's all. And gosh, am I like the last person on the planet to read 'em or what? (Scratch that—second to last—Tom hasn't read them either). I actually planned it that way, because way back when—upon first hearing about The Hunger Games, I said, "Sure, I'll read it." And then I found out it was going to be a series. And that the other books weren't even out yet. So then I said, "Nope. No thank you."

I learned this about myself years ago. I can't handle waiting for books. When it comes right down to it, I'd prefer waiting for all of them rather than starting one, getting hooked, and waiting for the next. I believe I learned this when I was 13 and I was super into the Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites series. It took Mr. WhatshisHeimer for-ev-er to finish his last book—so long that I grew older and outgrew the series completely and to this day I have NO idea what ever happened to those beloved characters of my youth. Did he even WRITE the last book?? See what I mean??? (I'm willing to accept that you probably do not). But in any case, it's not like I'm worked up about it or anything.

So with all the talk about The Hunger Games over the past couple of years I would always reply with, "I'll read them when they're ALL out." And that I did. This weekend. Three books. Knocked 'em out in four days, which really involved a lot of self discipline to neglect all of my other daily responsibilities in order to get through them that quickly. That's the other problem with books in a series. If they're good I never like to put them down so I figure the sooner I can get them over with the sooner I can get back to showering.

Don't worry though, I did manage to make meals for the fam and put in my hours for work—but boy howdy it wasn't without a lot of bitterness. Time wasted when I should be reading!, I'd think.

So anyway, I thought it was a fantastic series. I couldn't believe how involved I was in The Hunger Games. I thought even the third book was great, which I had heard so many mixed reviews about. So many, that long before I got to Mockingjay I had prepared myself for some kind of terrible ending like in The Giver or 1984. Don't get me wrong, I thought the ending was absolutely agonizing. But at least not 1984 agonizing.

Anyway, my two hopes for the movie, when they make it, is that
A: No actors/actresses from Twilight are included, and
B: That it won't be rated R.

But we shall see.

In other news? Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss' birthday but we've already started the party around here, thanks to two super-cool gifts from Tom's mom.

And then I saw Cat in the Hat shaped cookies and Cat in the Hat frosted cupcakes today at the grocery store and had to restrain myself because I'd probably eat most of them. Shucks—I guess I never realized how big a deal March 2 really was, but hey—I'm all for celebrating. Green eggs, anyone?

I love it when a good book(s) can stop life. I'm convinced it needs to happen every-once-in-awhile. Cute Cat In the Hat toy!! We got a wall clock at our house. Happy Dr. Seuss day!

I'm so with you on the "wait for the entire series to be out" philosphy...although, that might have done me in completely with "The Work and the Glory."
As for Dr. Suess' B-Day...perhaps he and JB can celebrate together...and yes...we ARE SO close...I can call him JB.

I loved those books!!! I think the writer did and excellent job portraying the real effects something like a revolution can have on someone. Anyway, I could talk about it forever! I'm a big fan of The Hunger Games, I'm glad you read them. We should have a skype book club and talk about it :)

You know, Tace, I didn't want to admit this earlier but I'm kind of hoping they'll cast Justin Bieber as Peeta and Miley Cyrus as Katniss.

(That's a lie.)

That had better be a lie! I very much echo your sentiments about (A) though. Boy do I ever.

I am glad you loved them! And I agree with you on series. I hate waiting, and mostly I read so many books that by the time the next book comes out, I have to reread the others to remember what happens. It can be very frustrating. So I have a several series where I have read the first, but I'm sitting on the second until the third comes out.
