Well, shucks.
Life's been pretty dull around here. I've said that before, haven't I? Well at least that's one thing I can promise about this here blog—we don't try to keep it lively.
Today involved some waking up. Some eating. Some bathing. Some napping. Some more waking up. Some more eating. Some Hobby Lobbying (my second go-to after Target). Some walking/strollering in chillier-than-I-realized 4 p.m. March weather. Some blowing bubbles. More eating.
But then! Clara got to stay up a full hour past her bed time because Grandpa dropped in all the way from Montpelier! And boy did she pull out hyperness from every crevasse of her being for the occasion. (See that? Just when it looks like I've settled in for a super, ultra, totally boring blog post I go and throw a curve ball with things like staying up past bed times and hyperness...and words like "crevasse.")
It's okay by me though. I'd take dull over hectic any day. And, haven't you heard? Dull is the new pink. Besides, we have things to look forward to. Spring, namely. My—are things dead out there or what?? I thought this to myself at least a million times while on our walk today. I want to see some buds! And color! I'm sick of this brown/gray/black/mud palette.
There's also Rachel's baby shower, coming in a few weeks. That will be colorful, at least. Because when I do anything I do it colorful. I've been putting a lot of brain power into it lately so naturally I'm looking forward to it. (Please don't let anyone break both of their ankles, PLEASE don't let anyone break both of their ankles....)
After that we'll be practically into April and do you know what? Tom and I went stark-raving mad and splurged on pricey tickets to see Arcade Fire. YEE-HAW! (Anyone want to babysit?) First of all, I used to forlornly think they'd never come to Utah. So imagine MY surprise when they decided to come to Orem. Like—right across the street from us Orem. Like—walking distance Orem. Oh man. It's gonna be like Christmas. (P.S. If you like Arcade Fire, and you like Google Chrome, try this. It's interactive!)
And then, after that—it'll practically be Clara's birthday! Sweet niblets how did THAT happen? Sheesh, for a bunch of dull days and even duller nights, time sure does seem to be propelling itself forward. Slow it down, Mother Nature! We LIKE days full of waking up, eating, bathing, napping and blowing bubbles. (But bring on the Spring time flowers, if you please.)
Clara looks forward to a lot of things as well. For instance, she can't wait to wake up every morning. It's like, all night long, a bazillion babbles are building up inside her mouth and then the moment her eyes pop open she just explodes with 'em. She's the best alarm clock I've ever owned. She also can't wait for Tom Thomas to come home for lunch every day. See, beforehand, it's just the two of us quietly munching our lunches and pretty much just staring at each other in awkward mother-daughter silence and then when Tom walks through the door I'm all, "Husband!" and Clara's all, "Parrot squawk! Parrot squawk!!" She just loves her some daddy-o.
Well, and that's all really. Cheerio. And good grief, would you look at the time?

Love it! I know what you mean. March just seems to blur by (yes, that's a verb) every year for me and maybe it is because it IS so blurry and dull. But, spring is sure to come just around the corner (a few blocks down...)
Is that a sippy cup I see in Clara's hands? Is she getting the hang of it now?
