Big news. Clara went to nursery today. Clap!
Nursery is a toy-strewn wonderland for wiggly toddlers in my church. They play with toys, eat snacks, sing songs and have a short—very short—lesson. They're allowed to enter at 18 months. Clara will be just that next week, so I snuck her in early. Well, not without permission, of course. Many experienced mothers suggested we give nursery a whirl just a few weeks early so I could sit with her and let her get used to the idea. Since Clara has a bit of a predisposition to be shy, and a Mama's girl, I thought it was a good idea. But after 45 minutes of playtime bliss—with toys 100% cooler than the ones we have at home, I gathered my belongings and casually left. About ten minutes later I put my ear to the door and heard not a peep! No screaming, no gnashing, no tears in any form. Just the chaotic hum of 6 to 7 toddlers having the time of their lives. Clap twice!
I hope this isn't just beginner's luck. Because let me tell you, I have wild beginner's luck. With—everything. It's, well, wild. Except for skiing. I did not have beginner's luck with skiing.
A story for another day, I s'pose.
In other news. We attended Cornbelly's.
What is Cornbelly's, you ask? Well I'll tell you this much—it's not a pumpkin patch. (We went specifically for a pumpkin patch.) (Hey—the Web site said they had a pumpkin patch.) (The "pumpkin patch" was a small area with a pile full of pumpkins.) But it worked out okay, because we got to go on a hayride, a train ride, through a couple of corn mazes—and all the while Tom managed to keep from rolling his eyes. Clap thrice! We went with some friends in our ward—Cindy and Andrew, who have the cute-est little twin babies.
Can you imagine how much of a riot they'll have once they're all in nursery together?
What's this? More pictures? Isn't that so uncharacteristic of me?
Anyway. You get the idea, right? Pumpkins, hay, the whole sha-bang. It was a lovely time.
Well, I would continue blogging. And really, I'd love to. But—Tom just put on Milo and Otis. Pfff. Like anyone can resist watching Milo and Otis. You'll understand, won't you? Speaking of, do you think there's a "no animals were harmed in the making of this film" blurb at the end? I seriously tend to doubt it.

Hooray for Clara! That is a very exciting day. I do hope that she continues to love it and it's not just your wild beginners luck! :)
James went to nursery today as well (alone for the first time ... I went with him last week to help out some nursery subs). It was a raging success for all of us.
Nursery is a great thing.
yay for nursery!!! sad, though, that jack won't be joining clara in there soon. we miss you guys! i used to be so appalled by the thought of germy nursery, but then jack got super mobile & crazy and now i'm counting down the days. glad to hear clara did well.
and i can't believe how big she & those twins are!! why is everyone growing up even though we're not there?!
Awww, Clara looks so cute! So how many times have you guys watched Milo & Otis now. I expect you guys (especially Tom) to be able to quote the whole movie.
I probably COULD recite the whole Milo and Otis movie since we put it in the car all the time. Silly movie.
