November 1st? I remember you!
Well it may be our anniversary, but alas, that hasn't stopped me from feeling ugly on my insides because I seem to have caught the little bug that was ailing Clara last week, and it hasn't stopped Tom from feeling like a zombie-head because this kid is highly underslept these days. (Zombie-head? Underslept? Sure. Just go with it.) Frankly, I'm just glad that's not how we felt on our wedding day. Can you imagine how lame we would have been in our reception line? With both of us falling over and drooling on well-wishers? Embarrassing.
And see this?
This is what rainy days that turn into snowy days do to my apartment. Somewhere in all that you'll find Old Maid cards and Block by Block puzzle cards that, to my shame, I haven't been able to solve even one because apparently my brain isn't meant for thinking—as well as Clara's socks and sun hat that she insisted wearing most of the morning to protect herself from our apartment's less-than-adequate fluorescent rays, I suppose, plus other odds and ends that had emerged on the carpet by about 10 a.m. this morning. Whew—it's impossible to read that all in one breath, isn't it?
And sure—it's only November 1st but here I am wondering what on earth we're going to do all winter long, because this little miss of ours lives and breaths for going outside with her soccer ball—which she just adores to pieces and carries it with her everywhere and even sleeps with it on occasion. Once she tripped right over it and face-planted on the concrete, resulting in a nasty bit lip, but even during all the tears and trauma she reached for her soccer ball because it too had been through a very difficult time. And that, friends, is a lesson on true love.
I believe we've come full circle. Because—boy howdy, I like being married—even on days when my insides feel ugly and my Tom Thomas feels zombie-headish and my little miss feels stir crazy.
Speaking of the little miss, she is nearly the best in the world at snuggling. Today I made her promise that she'd snuggle with me forever—even when she's 22 and mature and stuff like that. She agreed, but I'm not really sure she knows what she's getting into. Because I mean business.
This post is just oozing with love, isn't it? (Just go with it.)
But for a real post on love (or...sort of?), you'll have to go here. My brain was in a better thinking mood last year.

I'm thinking someone needs to invent a small gym where cabin fever can be dealt with in a humane fashion--toys, room to run, magazines for the moms, maybe a candy machine. Hope your bug crawls away quickly. Someone also needs to invent a large drawstring mat for a little kid to play on. You just cinch it all up and throw it in a closet--no need to pick up every card!
I totally echo Marilyn's comments! A drawstring mat...could we invent one the size of my basement?
Hope you are all feeling better. Love you.
Happy Anniversary! That was such a fun day.
Shmoopsie, sorry you are sick. That little niece of mine is a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. even when she isn't pictured. Happy Anniversary too. I thought of you guys. You're a great couple. Glad Tom found you.
