A banded, bulbous snarfblatt

Man, blogging is hard.

Okay. So yes—I am pregnant. As if you didn't already know. (Say that in Scuttle's voice—go on, do it). 15 weekaroos along, and the fact that I'm not passed out on the couch right now honk shooing the shoo out of honk is a sign that I must be feeling better. This past month or so has been a long blur of exhaustion and total lack of motivation to do anything. My sister-in-law Tracy explained it perfectly when she described one of her pregnancies as "you couldn't get me off of the couch even if you told me there was a million dollars on my doorstep." But the good news is I haven't been too sick, and believe you me, I'd take the sleepies over the sickies. Also, another bonus—I've found the cure to heartburn. Greek yogurt! On the days I eat yogurt in the mornings—I get no heartburn. None! Whatsoever! On the days when we've run out of yogurt and it takes me a week to actually get to the store to buy more—heartburn! And it burns! With a burn that is so burnful! Also, my sister Mitzi is an herbal guru—she's pretty much my go-to for any and every ailment in the Giles family—so she told me about papaya extract and activated charcoal. So between the three, I've managed to eradicate heartburn from my life completely. A heartburn trifecta! Isn't that something?

Moral of the story: My due date is July 30. I'm taking that to mean some time in the beginning of August. Another moral of the story: My next doctor's appointment isn't until March, and that's when we'll be able to find out if this little Giles critter is of the boy variety or girl variety. Word on the street is that many people have already cast in their vote as "boy," but we shall see.

Another problem I've had with blogging is that I like to try real hard to keep things lighthearted around this little space o'web, but that's kind of difficult to do when your dad's been in the hospital. Just over a week ago, he was diagnosed with stage 2 leukemia and another blood disorder called ITP. Initially there were so many more unknowns than knowns and it was a real frightening situation for our whole family. But luckily things have settled down a bit, he's been placed in the hands of an exceptional doctor (the best when it comes to cancer of the blood), he got to come home from the hospital, and his prognosis is altogether much less grim than it seemed at first. So three thousand cheers for that, right? Mitzi has been wonderful at keeping us all updated—and she even uses all the fancy medical terms that go right over my head. Word is she's been grilling all the doctors and making them draw out diagrams and such to prove that they really know what they're talking about. That's our Mitzi—she doesn't mess around. So you could definitely visit her Facebook page to get the full story—if you'd like to delve deeper.

So there now. I've come clean on everything.

But seriously guys—if I don't take a nap I'll never be able to stay awake through mutual tonight.  We're making this:

P.S. I'm not the only one exhausted around here lately. I stealthily took this picture the other night. That's Tom, zonked, cuddling with one of Clara's dolls. Can we say adoracute?

Heartburn means lots of hair! That's exciting. I LOVE greek yogurt too. The best flavor: Chobani pineapple. I normally don't like anything pineapple flavored but this is like the best I've ever tasted. Hugs for your Dad.

Marilyn got me to try Greek Yogurt awhile back and it's yummy. Good to know if we ever have another one - baby that is. I'm going to give Mitzi a call for some good remedies. I have lots of questions for her :) I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one who give up a million dollars to sink deeper into the couch cushions :)
