Skit Skat Scoodle Doot Flip Flop Flea

Over the past week we've been running to the tune of sniffles, sore throats and upset stomachs, but luckily everyone was feeling well enough on Saturday for our September tradition: Hogle Zoo with our friends Nate and Nicole, and their kids.

This year we really scored because when we arrived, a kind lady just handed over admission tickets plus tickets to ride the carousel—because some of her party hadn't come and she had ended up with extra. Upon arrival, we slathered ourselves in sunscreen because the sun was brightly shining, but within an hour some ominous clouds settled in and lots of people called it quits for the day. But not us. Never, I say! As a result of the weather, it was the least busy I've ever seen the zoo—and all the animals came out to enjoy the quiet rain. We actually got to see the cats, as opposed to just a tail or paw poking out—which is often the case on a hot and sunny day. There were hundreds and millions and billions and trillions of cats! And I called to them all: "Which one of you is the prettiest?" And then there was a big to-do. And lots of fur. ...Nevermind. Anyway.

The real highlight for Clara was finally getting to pull out the new umbrella that we purchased a few weeks ago. Phrases such as, "Dude—stop admiring the umbrella and look at the [insert wild and rare animal species here]," may or may not have been commonly heard.

That's all.

The end.

Until next year.

Toodle-oo.

Wow! I love the new bob haircut. It showed up well in these pics! What's not to love about an umbrella? Animals? Same old same old. Now umbrella...

Oh, a question. Did Thomas do his NYC street umbrella imitation?
