So, we're big LOST fans. Part of me wonders if Tom's main motivation for going to Hawaii for our honeymoon was because most of the show is filmed there. And as luck would have it, when we arrived at the head of the trail to the Wamea Valley waterfall, we saw a huge sign stating that the waterfall was inaccessible due to filming. Most tourists were bummed; Tom, in his Dharma t-shirt get-up, turned giddy. A kind lady at the information desk told us that we could hike to a certain point, but then crew members would stop us before we got to the waterfall and make us turn around.
So we headed up the trail, and it was probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Some time later we reached a point where we could see lots of trucks, dark-tinted vans and some tents set up off in the distance. There were several other tourists milling about trying to catch a glimpse of something cool, and as we approached, they declared that we had reached the stopping point.
Me, being the cautious one, thought it best to call it quits, but Tom wasn't about to be deterred by the information supplied by a bunch of unofficial tourists. So we marched right past the gathering of sightseers (no doubt jealous of our audacity), and apparently we looked like we knew what we were doing, because we strolled past the tents, past the trucks, and past all the crew members.
We reached a bridge, and the so-called "off limits" waterfall was in view. I decided to stop and take a picture before I lost my chance to do so. It was only after I had taken the picture that I noticed a small figure in the water. I zoomed in on the picture to find that it was everyone's favorite character from everyone's favorite TV show. Tom and I were just getting ready to continue our trek to the waterfall when a man came rushing towards us, and quickly asked us if we were part of the crew. I think that Tom may have momentarily contemplated lying to him. However, in the end, we decided it best to act like completely ignorant hikers with a response something like, "Oh...we're not supposed to be here??" As the man escorted us back through the camp, one crew member praised us by saying "No one's ever made it this far." Both Tom and I walked a little taller after that.
And so you can imagine our delight as we watched tonight's LOST, knowing that we were there when it all went down. Yep, it's the microscopic things in life that just really bring a smile to your face.
Here's another image we captured just as smoothly as the paparazzi. We caught a quick peek of the Dharma van. Also pictured is the very individual that shooed us off the premises. Oh the glory.

So cool. I have last nights episode recorded...hopefully Greg and I can find a minute tonight to watch after the kiddos are in bed. If not, I'll watch with Cambrie as it's pretty much a given I won't be getting to bed any time soon...unless, of course, she decides to hit the hay.
By the way, I still can't open your honeymoon pics on Facebook. Email some of them to me...I may just have to visit Hawaii through you -- it's not looking like there is a trip in my immediate future!
I loved last night's episode and thought of you guys during the whole waterfall scene. That's so cool that you were there!!!!
Oh the jealousy!!!! We too are HUGE Lost fans. The first thing I thought of when I saw that waterfall picture was of last nights episode, and wanna know, it was part of last nights episode!! I envy your experience AND your bravery! :-)
Very nice story Season. I don't even watch Lost (don't judged, I don't want to get hooked) and I am proud of you and the husband.
I'm so jealous!!! I love LOST!!! And way to go where no tourist has ever gone before, that's epic. Anyways, how have you been?
Are you serious?? Is that really Jack, in the flesh??
OK kids. Promise me you won't try this at the Pentagon!
