Today is my birthday.
And not just any birthday. My golden birthday.
Last night I didn't fall asleep until 2:30 in the morning. This was most certainly not by choice. I'd love to attribute it to something like "night-before-Christmas jitters," but in actuality it was nothing but plain, old-fashioned insomnia. And I was totally ticked off about it. 2:00 a.m. rolled around. I believe I had just barely nodded off when I received my first happy birthday text message. I didn't even need to look at it—I knew exactly who it was from. The only person who consistently sends me text messages in the middle of the night is my darling brother (and by darling, I don't exactly mean darling). I can recall mumbling something about how I have the meanest brother in the world and then proceeded to try to go back to sleep.
I'll have to remind myself to give him a good neck wringing when I see him in August.
Well anyway. What's that you ask?
Why yes. This is my 100th post. Which is kind of a big deal in blogdom, I believe.
My, this is turning out to be quite a monumental day, wouldn't you say?
Remember two posts back when I said I had some jigglies that I'd like to get rid of before beach time? Well forget it. 'Cause I've already scarfed down a delicious strawberry shortcake cupcake from Sweet Tooth Fairy (yum), a mint brownie shake from Red Robin (yum), and I'm currently working on a stash of home made cookies stacked inside a decorated Pringles can (yum yum). And who knows where today will lead me. I've got a coupon for a free scoop to both Baskin Robbins and Coldstone. Watch me paint the town with sugar.
I figure I might as well, as a hearty farewell to my youth. Today marks my transition into the "late twenties" genre, and if I think about it too hard I might get winded and need to sit down. See, now I have the responsibility of worrying about if I'm too old to shop in certain stores in the mall. You might think I'm silly—but last week I wandered into an American Eagle (pushing Clara in her stroller, mind you) and was greeted by a bright and boppy 16-year-old with way too much spunk and a squeaky voice. And then I noticed that the whole place was crawling with bright and boppy teenage girls and I had to resist the urge to tell them all that their shorts were too short. By the time I made it to the back of the store for the clearance items I'd already decided that I'd made a big mistake, but my bee-line out was hindered because Clara's stroller kept bumping into clothing racks. Moral of the story? Online shopping is the way to go.
Okay, before I get a load of "you think you're old" comments, let me clarify that I know I'm not old. Just adjusting—I guess. If you're just tuning in—the past three months my universe has shifted enormously. And if I ever forget I've got a jumble of stretch marks to remind me. Oh, and then there's the wiggly, grinny little creature with an afro in the making, who just so happens to be about ten gazillion times cuter than stretch marks. (Observe—afro:)
Anyway, I don't really think I have a point to all this, so I'll just chomp down on another cookie and call it good. Which, p.s., you've really gotta try one of these. It's a peanut butter cookie with a Snickers in the middle, drizzled with white and milk chocolate. Mmm-hmmm. I know, right? Happy birthday to Season.
Well anyway, as a parting gift I'd like to leave you with my very favorite youtube video. I'm not kidding either, it's my absolute favorite. If you follow my blog frequently, you already know that the few youtube videos I have posted do not disappoint. In any case, consider this my 100th-post-thanks-for-reading-birthday-present to you.
Footnotes:
a: my birthday banner was supplied by Tom's mom. There's a 95% chance I'll leave it up all year.
b: stay tuned to Bayberry Creek Crafter to see the above-mentioned decorated Pringles b-day can full of b-day goodness.
c: despite all the sweets, my very favorite gift happens to be a pink giraffe eraser. (Thanks Nicole and Aileen! As usual, you two rock my invisible socks.)
d: Clara's afro turned three months old this past Saturday.
e: if by some small chance you didn't find "Cat in the Corner" absolutely giggle-worthy, try watching again around 2 a.m.

Happy Birthday Season! I just adore your posts :) All 100 of them! Rob and I spent all of last week eating our free food around the town. I have my work cut out for me this week in the exercise department. Oh, and I just laughed my head off at that youtube video, well done!
Are you feeling overwhelmed by all my comments/emails for your birthday?! Tough. That's the price you pay for allowing me to be your friend.
I too have enjoyed all 100 posts. Love the birthday banner. So cute. The cat video was HI-larious, but anything with cats is, right? Also, good thing we recovered your favorite gift after Tom sent it flying into the booth behind. How would you have erased anything? Anywayz, have a good day!
Happy Happy Birthday!
Congratulations on 100 posts! It is a very exciting moment.
And, I am so jealous of you that you are going to get free scoops from Baskin Robins and Cold Stone. I have been sadly ice cream free for about 3 months (they lie when they tell you nursing is so convenient - not having my FAVORITE food because it makes my baby scream for hours is not convenient - sigh)
Have a wonderful wonderful day!
DARN -- I'm guessing it was Linc that beat me to the Happy Birthday in the middle of the night text message! I KNEW I should have sent it at 12:01 MY time...but then it wouldn't have officially been "your" day. Hope it's a great one.
You never fail to crack me up! I am glad I read your blog! happy 100th post! And birthday too! Mine is in two days and I know exactly what you mean about the late twenties :(
I loved the video, especially when it comes back out butt first!
Which brother texted you at 2:00am?
What an exciting day, you go over the twenties hill and have your 100th post on your blog. I say things just don't get any better. It never fails as soon as you change ages I think I do too. Today at work one of the girls asked me how old I was... I said 26. Oh well I guess I just like to be 4 months older than I am. Happy Freakin Birthday!!!
What? I'm 2.5 seconds younger?? How do you count the number of posts anyway? I'm just in love with your blog, fascinated by the inner workings of your mind. Oh and that adorable little niece of mine.
