In a recent turn of events, we found a place to move. Even more exciting than that—we like the place we found to move. It's about 45 seconds away from where we live now. We certainly didn't plan it that way, it's just how it worked out. But the good news is, if we're ever feeling nostalgic for our crazy neighbor or a slightly falling apart playground, it's just a mere traipse back to the ol' stomping grounds. How's that for handy? We'll move at the beginning of May, once Tom finishes up his semester. Moving while pregnant should be an adventure—considering the fact that I can't even vacuum the three rooms in my apartment without getting exhausted and needing to have a good sit on the couch. But this is a big deal, no? Scrapbook-worthy, even. (Not really.) This is the first move of our marriage! And boy howdy have we acquired a lot of stuff. Including an extra human! (See below—isn't she a cute little human?)
There are several things about our new place that make it a total champ. It's clean and much newer. It's got nice new carpet. It's got a tiled eating area. (Our table currently sits on carpet. Carpet + toddler = frowny-faced Season.) You see? I don't ask for much. Just a tiled eating area. And a cute kitchen. And clean carpet. And clean everything else. Plus, since we've really liked the area we live in, we're happy to be basically staying put. We'll only be an extra 400 feet further from Target. No harm done. Big sigh of relief.
But what am I saying. We're not moving 'til May. And we've got big things to look forward to in April. Like a certain someone's 2nd birthday. And do you know what I've recently learned? I can handle my almost 2-year-old considerably better when I DON'T have a pounding headache. Isn't that something? Fist shake to headaches! But anyway. Clara's just a bowl full of popcorn these days. She's such a chatterbox too—although no one but Tom would believe me, because she shuts down around anyone else and speaks very little. Unless you offer her a Cadbury Mini. Yesterday our new landlord offered us some Cadbury Minis (my favorite Easter treat, as luck would have it—it sealed the deal with the apartment), and afterward Clara kept quietly asking him for "More rock?" "More rock?" She has a good point. They do kind of look like rocks. Just little pastel rocks full of chocolatey goodness. And that makes for even one more thing to look forward to in April. I'll risk the debilitating pregnancy heartburn for these little guys, because courageous is practically my middle name.
But shucks. Now I'm just rambling. What has this world come to?
Have a wonderful everything, friends.

Congrats on the new place and I understand about the OC being old and having weird kitchens (though our place had a tiled eating area!). I'd love to see pictures of your new place!
Skippity do!! Congrats! And I'm thinking that the only-the-family-knows-I'm-funny trait must run in the family. Tom was like that for a long time--probably still is. He was really funny around us but not many people knew that. But hey if it means she'll talk to me, I'll gladly carry around a pocket full of them "rocks".
where is this mystical new place?? i'm trying to envision it in my head.
"More rocks?" Must be in the genes....a girl after my own heart! Can't wait to see the new home...even better--can't wait to see you! Five more days...Hooray! Love you!
Lyndsey, it's behind the Walgreens on 800 S. There are six condos built on top of the Rock Canyon Real Estate building. In the three and a half years we've lived here, we had no idea there were condos right there. It looks commercial.
