You know what I always say. The more the merrier. Actually, I usually just say that when I'm talking about pillows, because I could easily sleep with 15+ pillows—but it applies to this as well.
We're having another girl! I must admit, I was indeed surprised. I thought it was a boy. Not because of any sort of motherly intuition—it's just that everyone thought we were having a boy, so I went ahead and gave into peer pressure and thought the same thing. But now we will have to change our tune—to the tune of more dress-ups and jewelry and purses and tea parties. Hipperdee-Yee-haw!
And to report on our spring break partying, I can report that the kitchen at least was swept, and was promptly made dirty again the next day. Some battles you just can't win. Which is slightly disheartening, considering our current quest to find a larger apartment with a kitchen (hopefully) larger than our Giles-Two-Stepper.
I can also report that after our first ice cream trip to Cold Stone, I happily announced, "14 more to go!" And that's when Tom admitted that he didn't think he had it in him—15 ice cream parties and all. I probably don't either, but you don't see me admitting that. I'm choosing to soldier on.
But can we get back to pregnancy for just a second or two? There are some things that I'm already starting to stress over. Like, really important stuff too—like maternity swimming suits. Eeesh. And like what on earth will we do with Clara when it's time to actually go to the hospital? (Those are listed in order of importance.)
Here's where the post really starts to disconnect from the above portion and I start discussing various forms of media. Movies, TV, books, music—the works.
• Let's discuss Hunger Games. Tom finally read the first book (I told him he couldn't come see the movie unless he read it.) He finished last night, so there's been lots of discussion going on around here. If you're not friends with Tom on the ol' Facebook, I'll fill you in. He openly called Peeta a "weenie." I would have loved to defend him, because Peeta really won me over the first time I read it, but I'm having a hard time countering. He really doesn't do much, other than be hopelessly in love. And then, it totally doesn't help that Josh Hutcherson is so short. Is anyone else disturbed by this?
Pic from somewhere else. Obviously. |
Let's just hope that it's because Jennifer Lawrence is in super tall heels. Anyway, for now I'm going to stick with Peeta bein' my fave. But so help me, the movie better make him look taller.
• Clara makes me read "Rainbow Fish" every time she's in the bath. I've read it over a billion times by now, and I'm pleased to say I even have it memorized! I've also had plenty of time to critically analyze it. And let me just say, I don't approve. If I could sit down with Rainbow Fish right now, I'd tell him that his friends are using him. He should just let his friends borrow his scales, and then see if they'll still be his friend. These are the deep thoughts that motherhood has led me to.
• We've started watching Awake, which is pretty intriguing. But it'll probably end in zombies. All decent TV shows do.
• Also, remind me sometime to discuss Downton Abbey. I have thoughts. Thoughts that I'm sure you'd be able to sleep better if you knew what they were.
• Finally, someday I'd love to sit down and have a whistling lesson from Andrew Bird. I think I could probably teach him a few techniques as well. Because—you may not know this—but I am pretty amazing at whistling. Almost as good as dear Andrew.
I think that's all, for now.
This is the part of the post where I bid you farewell.

i love and miss you seasonlicious! I am so excited for hunger games!! we shall have to chat about it. Oh... and I am excited about the baby, of course:)
I would most definitely sleep better knowing your thoughts on Downton Abbey. Do share.
Totally agree with the Andrew Bird comment.
Congratulations Season! Good luck with the apartment hunting!
What's even more disturbing is how tall that guy is standing over her shoulder! Is he riding a horse?
Hooray for babies! Hooray for girls! Double Hooray for Baby Girl Giles! So happy! Now get on to that apartment hunting.....Love you!
Congrats on the baby girl! I was also very disappointed about who they picked to play Peeta...I hope they prove me wrong when I see the movie!
I don't know this "Rainbow Fish" you speak of. Must find that one. I have a fairly cute maternity swimsuit I can send if you want. Actually it is more comfortable than it is cute but when you're pregnant comfort usually wins. And about what to do with Clara, when Pete was born, my mom did a great job taking Charlie. In fact, if we are still on that side of the country, we'd GLADLY (like jumping up and down "Pick me pick me!!" kind of gladly) come down and stay with her. Just sayin'.
Clara has on ruby slippers!!! Hmm...starts with "g" and ends with "irl"... Can I buy a vowel? An "A"? Gir--ill--a??? Downton Abbey--oh, so yes! A big hearty Turkish duke YES!! Or was he a prince? Definitely NOT a prince of a guy! I've been building up to a post on Downton Abbey as well!!! Maybe our posts will high five midway in cyberspace.
I'm so out of touch with life. BUT...I do have my tickets for the Hunger Games -- Addysen couldn't convince me to go to the midnight showing...so, sigh, we are going 17 HOURS after it opens. (Her words, not mine.)
Lovin' another girl comin' around!
